Thanks for your comment Ken. In saying "usually" I was merely stating my observation of tradition. I have personally been a part of confirmations that were performed on the stand. Like you, I'm not aware of any specific instruction on the matter.

As far as I'm aware, today, most confirmations are performed in the Relief Society or Primary room (or other room near the font) immediately after the baptism or baptismal program.

The key idea though, is that they are presented in front of the congregation for this finalizing ceremony/ordinance in the process of becoming a member of the Church. In approximately the same location where they were blessed (at least thats the way it was before they started doing it right after the baptism).

Interesting! I have a question!
You stated,,, "Confirmation is usually done at the front of the Chapel, but not on the stand:.
This, to me, implies that the ordanance is 'usually' performed at the front of the chapel, 'but' not on the stand... implying that it is not to be performed there!

I have been a bishop for 26 years. I have never heard nor read, nor been trained in priesthood leadership, bishops training, etc. that confirmations are not performed 'on the stand'. Have I missed something? Or misreading your statement.
Thanks

There's a lot of truth to this post. Especially when you realize that the ordinances and teachings and covenants of the Holy Place in the Aaronic Priesthood Temple match up to first principles and ordinances of the gospel, as well as the Aaronic Priesthood portion of the modern Temple Endowment. It is following that portion that we can progress beyond what the ancient Israelites had, and do as the writer of the letter to the Hebrews wanted us to do: Go on into perfection!

I started this blog back in November. I don't post to it as regularly as I'd like, but when I do I learn a lot. Let other people know about it so we can get more discussions going about the things posted here. Thanks Mom!
